Patras, located on the northern side of Peloponnese, is Greece's third largest urban area, as well as the regional capital of all Western Greece. The airport of Aktion (PVZ) near Preveza is about 160km north-west of Patras, and is connected with the city through the Ionian Road.
The Corfu International Airport (CFU) is situated at the island of Kerkyra, which is connected with Igoumenitsa (in the mainland) by ferry. From there on to the city of Patras, is a 3 hours journey.
With an easy access to the Mediterranean, Patras is linked with all the major Italian ports of Brindisi, Bari, Ancona & Venice (and therefore with all of Western Europe) in the Adriatic sea all year round.
The city of Patras can be reached from the Northern Greece, and its northern borders and the Egnatia Road, by either using the Ionian Road to the West, or the Aegean Road to the East).
The suburban railway of Patras connects the city center with the northern areas of the city and the suburbs of Rion and Agios Basileios providing quick and convenient transportation by bypassing the city traffic. The operation is daily, with departures (from the city center) every hour from 6:23 in the morning until 23:23 at night. The railway, in cooperation with the Patras City Buses, offers a single tickets and cards at affordable prices that offer quick and economical transportation to the Hospital of Rion and the University of Patras.
